Knee Pain

Knee Pain

Knee pain can affect everything from walking the dog and climbing stairs to playing football, running or enjoying a round of golf. Whether your pain has developed gradually or started after an injury, it’s important to identify the underlying cause rather than simply treating the symptoms.

At Elite Performance Therapy, every appointment begins with a thorough assessment to understand the cause of your knee pain before recommending the most appropriate treatment. Our aim is to reduce pain, improve movement and help you return to your normal activities as quickly and safely as possible.

What Causes Knee Pain?

Knee pain can result from sports injuries, overuse, muscle weakness, poor movement patterns, arthritis, ligament sprains, meniscus injuries, tendon problems or biomechanical imbalances. Often, the pain you feel in the knee is actually being caused by weakness or tightness elsewhere, particularly around the hips, glutes, ankles or feet.

A thorough assessment helps identify the likely cause of your symptoms so treatment can be tailored to your individual needs rather than simply focusing on the area where you feel pain.

How We Can Help

At Elite Performance Therapy, every treatment begins with a thorough assessment to understand what’s causing your knee pain.

Treatment may include sports massage, remedial therapy, soft tissue techniques, stretching, mobility work and a personalised rehabilitation programme designed specifically for you. Where appropriate, medical acupuncture (dry needling) may also be used to help reduce muscle tension and relieve pain.

Our goal isn’t simply to ease your symptoms. We want to improve the way your knee moves, reduce the likelihood of your pain returning and help you get back to doing the things you enjoy.

Keeping Your Knees Healthy

Small changes often make a big difference. Improving strength, mobility and movement patterns, alongside appropriate footwear and sensible training habits, can all help reduce the risk of knee pain returning.

Understanding the cause of your symptoms is just as important as treating them, which is why we always combine hands-on treatment with practical advice and rehabilitation where appropriate.

We’ll also give you simple exercises and advice that you can continue at home, along with recommendations for ongoing treatment if needed to help keep your knees healthy.

Don’t Let Knee Pain Hold You Back

If knee pain is affecting your work, sport or everyday life, we’re here to help. Early assessment and treatment can often prevent a small problem from becoming a long-term issue.

If you’re struggling with knee pain, we’d be happy to help. Book your appointment online and we’ll carry out a thorough assessment before creating a treatment plan tailored to your needs.
